Pedro de Lemos
American, 1882-1954

The Carmel Art Association’s first president, de Lemos resided in Palo Alto where he was, for many years, director of Stanford’s Art Museum. He was a painter, pastel artist, etcher, illustrator and lithographer.
Beginning in 1911 he taught etching and decorative design at at he SF Institute of Art and served as director from 1914-17. He was the author of Applied Art, Artists Scrap Book, Block Printing and about 50 books on arts and crafts.
