I am happiest setting out on a journey, the journey being the destination of course. It is one of the things I love about painting. Every blank canvas on my easel is the start of a new journey.
2020 halted most physical travel leaving me to revisit places I love, on my easel. My studio travels were expanded by friends, especially my friend Sara who has visited places I have not. Their travel photos have allowed me to explore on canvas new and unexpected territory.
Part of the artistic journey is exploring, trying things you haven’t tried before, seeing things in a different way. I have been able to re-visit familiar scenes and old friends with new eyes and bring a sense of exploration to new scenes, playing with techniques and materials to suit the locale, the mood, and my imagination.
