Transitions: Passage from one form, state, style or place to another. (American Heritage Dictionary)
Artist Members Anne and Noro join together to present “Transitions,” a title chosen because it reflects not only the state of the world, but also their personal experiences during the pandemic.
“The darkness that descended on the world showed up in my watercolor paintings, made more difficult by the Functional Movement Disorder which prevented me from painting much of the time. Then the birth of my husband Doug’s and my granddaughter brought joy into our lives. This has helped me rediscover playful rhythms in my paintings and believe in new beginnings, including the new works I am displaying in Transitions.”
“…passing… passage… rites of passage…
Navigating through the current transitional phase has proved challenging. At times I feel grounded; sometimes I feel adrift. This season my creative energy is in a state of flux, as reflected in these monotypes. Monotypes are indirect paintings transferred onto paper through the pressure of a printing press. I use oil-based inks and 100% cotton rag paper to create these prints.”
