A Moveable Beast

Opening Reception: Saturday, October 8th, 4:00-7:00 pm

Dates: October 6, 2022

- October 31, 2022

A bold, conceptual exhibition titled A Moveable Beast: Exquisitely CAA fills the CAA’s Center Gallery with a wild menagerie of interchangeable heads, torsos, and appendages.  This show draws its inspiration from the Surrealists whose movement developed in post-World-War I Europe. The seventeen CAA painters and printmakers who are participating in A Moveable Beast borrow from the Surrealists’ parlor game known as Exquisite Corpse in which a “being” is drawn blindly, composed of three separate artworks created by three different artists.

Each CAA artist adds to a composition in sequence: one drawing a head, another drawing a torso and a third drawing the legs and feet. A show like this has never been put on before at the CAA, so you won’t want to miss it!
