Shirley Holt

SHIRLEY HOLT (1932-2021)

ONLINE MEMORIAL EXHIBITION

December 5, 2023 – June 3, 2024

During the extensive height of Shirley Holt’s artistic career, she was unstoppable. Based in Pacific Grove, Shirley enjoyed an international reputation for her paintings, pen & ink and graphite drawings, etchings, and book-publishing empire. Her subjects ranged from landscapes, seascapes, and fantasy creatures to carousel animals, Mother Goose rhymes, fairy tales, and holidays. Almost all of her works would be perfect for babies’ nurseries, children’s bedrooms, playrooms, classrooms, and Christmas-themed art collections to install in your home each December.

Exhibition Guidelines:

Carmel Art Association will honor the late Artist Member Shirley Holt’s available artworks for the next six months. During December, a selection of her framed works will be displayed on CAA walls and some of her unframed works will be presented in sleeves in our Founders Room art bin.

All of this show’s offerings can be seen below as digital files. Each one is labeled as to title, medium, dimensions, and price. Most works are framed; some are unframed. Keep in mind that the measurements shown indicate the size of the artworks themselves, not including any matting or framing that they might come with.

To make first-hand viewing very easy for you over the next few months, CAA is storing almost every artwork on site! Just ask a staff member at the Front Desk to see the titles you especially like. Your personalized presentation will be ready within minutes.

CAA expects to be adding a few more choices to this wide-ranging assortment over the next few months, so be sure to re-visit this webpage often. We also have a selection of Shirley’s award-winning children’s books available for purchase.

If you can’t view in person, please email [email protected] to ask questions or request more detailed images of the titles that capture your interest to view on your computer.

The special prices below reflect CAA’s goal to place as many of the family’s collection into private or public care as possible. As with all CAA purchases, all sales are final, and shipping can be arranged at the buyer’s expense.
