Richard Sawicki

In my paintings, I often use gold leaf in order to brighten the colors and make canvas vibrate with a flickering luster that gives it life. In my drawings, the tones applied by charcoal, pastels, pen-and-ink, and the underlying specks of white or colored paper mix optically when the sheet is seen at a distance. An effect of atmospheric luminosity is the result. I make the silhouette count in many portraits. I like painting and drawing profiles.
