Mary Burr
American, 1922-2016

Drawing and dribbling paint along the way, Mary danced a path through the San Francisco Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, and then Broadway musicals as a soloist and principal dancer. Later, having left Monterey Peninsula College after twenty years in Graphic Arts, and having won a national award in that field, Mary emerged as a full-time painter and sculptor.

She has been represented in the U.S. and Europe in the private estates of several art collectors including the late actor Yul Brynner, director Daniel Mann, choreographers Bob Fosse and Anthony Tudor. Mary became a member of the Carmel Art Association in 1989 and served on its board of directors.
