Kate Martin

Kate Martin is a plein air landscape artist who works primarily with oils and watercolors. She strives to capture the mood, light and atmosphere of a scene as she paints. Working fast, she makes intuitive decisions, eliminating unnecessary clutter and preserving the essence of the landscape. She currently studies and paints with CAA Artist Member Mark Farina.

Prior to moving to the Monterey Peninsula in 2013, Kate lived and painted in a suburb of Baltimore, Maryland, raising a family while working as a nurse. She took watercolor classes at the local art center, continuing what she began at the University of California, Santa Cruz as an art major. In 1997 Kate was juried in to the Baltimore Watercolor Society (BWS).  As an active artist member of the BWS, Kate’s landscapes and portraits were exhibited throughout the Baltimore and Washington DC area.

She currently resides in Carmel Valley with her husband and two cats.
