Irene Robinson was born in Gilroy, California and raised on a 2200 acre cattle ranch. She studied painting with John Cunningham at the original Carmel Art Institute. She has resided on the Monterey Peninsula since 1962 and has been a member of the Carmel Art Association since 1985.

Robinson is noted for her vigorous, yet lyrical line drawing and powerful compositions which capture the movement and essence of her subjects.
