Erin Lee Gafill

An award-winning painter, writer, and teacher, Erin is a fifth-generation California artist with deep roots in Carmel art history.  She works and lives in her family home above Nepenthe Restaurant in Big Sur. Her abstracted landscapes and personal still lifes are infused with the light of the Central Coast, and a reverence for the natural world.

Erin’s work is shown throughout the country. Her memoir on juggling creativity and family life is called Drinking from a Cold Spring, a Little Book of Hope.

In 2009 the Arts Council for Monterey County awarded her as a “Champion of the Arts” for her arts education work with children and families in under-served communities.
