Benjamin Anderson

Benjamin Anderson is an oil painter, printmaker, sculptor, author, and arts educator who makes the Monterey Peninsula his home. He holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in painting and has been honored with numerous solo exhibitions, juried competition awards, and artist residencies.

Anderson’s primary subject is the dynamic scenery of the California landscape. He is known for his life-based oil paintings in the romantic style. His realistic depictions of the transformative effects of light and color in the hills, valleys, and unique vistas of California are both compelling and awe-inspiring. Benjamin alternates between painting plein air in Carmel Valley and across the Central Coast with travels to his Vermont childhood home for artist retreats to paint that state’s great forests and winter landscapes.

Anderson is part of the California Art Club and the society of Oil Painters of America. He was juried into the Carmel Art Association in 2021.
