Jessie Arms Botke
Internationally known as a "decorative artist with a flair for birds."
Born in Chicago, Botke studied at the Chicago Art Institute, and with John Johansen and Charles Woodbury.
She met a and married Dutch artist Cornelis Botke in 1915. They settled in Chicago where Jessie produced several major murals assisted by her husband, including one for the Kellogg Cornflake factory and the University of Chicago.
The Botkes moved to California in 1918 and built a studio in Carmel, and before moving to Santa Paula in 1927, they studied at the Paris Salon in 1924 and spent eight months in Holland.
Member of the California Watercolor Society and the National Association of Women Artists.
